The Millennium Playing Field, Playground and Adult Outdoor Gym
|
The Millennium Field was purchased and developed as a playing field to commemorate the new Millennium. Since then, we have invested in a range of equipment for every age group – or you can just visit to take advantage of our picnic table and bench.
For the very youngest, we have a toddler slide, spring rides and swings. For children, we there are swings, a large slide and a fitness trail. For adults there is a range of fitness equipment – a gym with a view! We also have a mini football pitch with a goal and a basketball hoop. If you are visiting the Millennium Field, please make sure that you follow all the safety advice displayed and please help us to keep the area safe and tidy by using the bins provided. Please note NO DOGS ALLOWED. If you notice any faults please do not hesitate to report it to our Parish Clerk via our contact form |
The village is bisected by the path of the former Lancaster to Kendal Canal and since the 1960s, residents have been actively involved in conserving and developing the area. In April 1980, the Parish Council bought a 450m , 3.2 acre section of canal to the east of the Historic Aqueduct in the centre of the village. The canal towpath along the canal is a Public Right of Way and is part of the Lancaster to Kendal Canal Footpath. The village has developed a clear vision for the area:
The Parish Council manage and maintain the area as a village amenity. The Council have devised a Woodland Management Strategy which incorporates a Risk Management Strategy and a Canal Management Plan – if you require more information please contact the clerk. |
